Brazil’s Alisson Piekazewicz has to be feeling good about himself after making an epic hero call against one of the toughest opponents on the felt: Alex Foxen.
The bold play took place during Day 1A of the $8,000 Triton ONE Main Event on South Korea’s Jeju island, the marquee attraction of the first-ever Triton ONE festival catering to the next generation of star poker players. The first of two starting flights in the Main Event has drawn 447 entrants so far, including other top pros like Steve O’Dwyer, Stephen Chidwick, Jesse Lonis and Stephen Song, who CelestialPoker spoke to and wrote about here.
Small pairs are always tricky to play without making a set or better, but Piekazewicz had no trouble with pocket fours against the high-stakes pro with $51.4 million in Hendon Mob earnings. Piekazewicz is no slouch himself and has $2.1 million in live earnings, including a victory at European Poker Tour (EPT) Monte Carlo earlier this year that earned him $208,626.

Piekazewicz Doesn’t Believe Foxen
As captured by the CelestialPoker live reporting team, Piekazewicz opened to 6,000 in the hijack and Foxen three-bet to 18,000 on the button. Piekazewicz called.
Piekazewicz checked on the flop of 5♥3♠9♣ and Foxen continued for 14,000. Piekazewicz check-raised to 34,000, leading Foxen to three-bet to 61,000. Piekazewicz called.
Piekazewicz checked on the 10♠ turn and Foxen sized down to 41,000. Piekazewicz called. Piekazewicz checked once more on the 3♦ river and Foxen put him to the test by betting 95,500 with just 500 behind. Piekazewicz called.
Foxen could only show ace-high with A♥K♠, prompting Piekazewicz to proudly table 4♠4♦ after calling all the way down with just a pair of fours.
Foxen was left with a fraction of a big blind and was eliminated shortly after.
Kristen Foxen Faring Better
It just hasn’t been Foxen’s day, as his bustout in the Main Event came about an hour after he was eliminated from Day 2 of the $10,000 Mystery Bounty.
Foxen entered the day fifth in chips but soon found himself all in with ace-nine to dominate the ace-deuce of Hugues Girard. But the Poker Gods had other plans as a flopped deuce gave Girard the winner as Foxen was sent to the rail in 50th place with 47 spots paid.
But there’s plenty of hope left for Team Foxen as Kristen Foxen is currently chip-leading the Mystery Bounty event as the first player to cross the seven-million chip threshold. Just 16 players remain and a $245,000 top prize awaits the winner, plus whatever bounties they accumulate along the way.
