A legend of both poker and music is sadly no longer with us. Steve Albini died of a heart attack on Tuesday aged 61.

Best known as a music producer, Albini has produced albums for some of the iconic artists of the grunge era including Nirvana, the Pixies, the Breeders and PJ Harvey. He had worked on over 2,000 albums, mostly for underground bands.

He famously refused royalties for albums he produced, instead sticking to an affordable day rate.

He also performed his own music in bands including Big Black and Shellac.

In poker terms Albini was a big fan of mixed games and boasted two World Series of Poker bracelets. He won the $1,500 Seven Card Stud event in 2018 for $105,629 and the $1,500 HORSE event in 2022 for $196,089.

A much loved member of the poker community, last night tributes poured out to him on social media.
