271 players for the first-ever women-only festival in London, with one of the biggest crushers in poker taking the title.
Women’s side events have been a staple part of most large poker festivals forever, but over the weekend PokerStars hosted a women-only festival in London, for the first time.
The Women’s Winter Festival featured a women-only High Roller event and a £400 Main Event, which attracted an impressive field of 271.
The tournament was won by one of the most accomplished female players in the game today, Argentina’s Maria Lampropulos, who took it down for £20,000 after defeating Ann-Roos Callens heads-up.
Lampropulos already has two WSOP-C rings, an 888Live High Roller, a partypoker LIVE Main Event and, of course, the PCA Main Event title on her resume. Interestingly she also won the Ladies Event at UKIPT Nottingham a week earlier.
A look at social media suggests this event was a huge success and with impressive numbers for the inaugural event, it looks like festivals of this nature could be a regular fixture.
