Last year’s Flip & Go bracelet winner is the first bracelet winner of the year with a win in the champions-only freeroll in LA.
The first World Series of Poker bracelet of 2024 has been awarded, not in Vegas, but in LA.
The Tournament of Champions is a freeroll event for anyone who won a bracelet or WSOP-C ring in the previous year. Controversially it took place in LA at the Commerce Casino, rather than Las Vegas, last week, meaning the eligible champions had to travel twice this summer.
That didn’t stop 562 eligible players from travelling to the event this year, with 100 of them cashing in the $1 million freeroll.
The eventual champion was Dong Meng of China, who took it down for $200,000. Meng earned his place in the event by winning the $1,000 Flip & Go bracelet last summer. He defeated Kevin Will heads-up, Will earned his seat in this tournament by winning a $400 WSOP-C Ring just last month in Chicago.
Meng earned his second career bracelet, the first WSOP gold strap of 2024 to be awarded.
