Were several dealers at the Legends Poker Room in Texas rigging the deck?
Shaun Deeb has brought to light accusations of a ‘Mechanic’ dealer at a Texas poker room.
He recently tweeted a video of the hands of a dealer at the Legends Poker Room, which shows a dealer shuffling the deck poorly. It appears he is keeping the bottom cards from being shuffled into the main part of the deck.

Deeb also confirmed that he had heard several dealers had been fired from the club recently for ‘messing with the decks’.

Of course, it could just be incompetence rather than anything shady. Most Texas poker rooms do not use automatic shufflers. However, the fact that somebody elected to film this particular dealer suggests they were suspicious of him.
What is a Mechanic?
A ‘Mechanic’ is a dealer who is skilled in sleight of hand and uses their skills to ‘rig’ the deck to deal specific cards and/or runouts to specific players. It’s a form of collusion with another player at the table. A year ago Joe Ingram interviewed a ‘Mechanic’ dealer who showed off his skills (around the 90-minute mark below):
The Legends Poker Room has prior history with controversial stories, mostly surrounding violence at the club. In 2022 a security guard likely saved several lives when he prevented an armed robbery at the venue.
