He took seven figures in Monte Carlo at the start of the month and then €100 at the end of it playing with new blood of poker.
Steve O’Dwyer is one of the biggest winners in the game with $45,227,575 in career earnings. Earlier this month he cashed in two Triton events for a combined $1,122,000.
Last night he added an extra €100 to that haul.
That’s because he played in a special Dublin Poker City University Poker Society game. He went along with Fintan Hand and CelestialPoker.com contributor Dara O’Kearney to play against the students.
Winnings donated back to the students
A special €20 bounty was put on his head by Fintan Hand, which he got to keep because he won the tournament for €100. He kept the bounty but donated the first prize to the societies end of year championship event.
This is not the first time O’Dwyer, who is both American and Irish, has partaken in student games. He came 5th in the University of Galway’s poker club event last month too.
It’s a brilliant gesture from one of the crushers in the game to play with the new blood of poker. Especially as student poker is something that has been chronically overlooked by the industry in general.
