A new poker movie written by a regular in Los Angeles private games gets it cinema release today.
Most poker movies since Rounders have disappointed but poker fans at least seem to be optimistic about this one.
Dead Money stars Emile Hirsch of Into the Wild fame and Jackie Earle Haley who was Rorschach in Watchmen. It was written by Josh Wilcox who has years of experience playing in high-stakes private games in LA.
The story follows a poker pro who gets caught up in a home robbery and finds himself having to play poker for life-and-death decisions (It actually sounds a lot like the new comic from Stapes).
To celebrate the launch of the movie, Hirsche will be playing on the Hustler Casino Live stream this evening:

It appears that Dead Money currently will only be available in US cinemas, but no doubt if it proves popular we will see it released digitally very soon.
