An eight way deal ended the tournament which saw almost 12,000 entrants in the United Kingdom last week.
More signs that live poker is booming wherever you go. Once again the Grosvenor Golitah in the United Kingdom has smashed the record for the biggest field outside of Las Vegas just like it did last year.
The event is held in the Ricoh Arena, the stadium for Coventry City Football Club, so there was plenty of floor space for the annual event aimed at low-stakes players.
11,749 (5,181 entries and 6,568 re-entries) for the £200 tournament is bigger than any field outside of the World Series of Poker. This was spread across eight Day 1s, one of which attracted 2,189 entries in a single day.
The original billed prize was £278,390 but as you can imagine, a deal was struck at the final table. It was a pure ICM deal which saw chip leader Gilbert Black take home £175,575, but everyone secured at least £55,580 which was more than double the 8th place prize. Everyone at the final table got at least 228 times their initial £200 investment.
All that was left was to play out for the trophy, which went to 2nd chip leader Will Watkins, who also took down £166,070.
