GGPoker removes Bounty Jackpot feature

The change means that rake in PKO tournaments at GGPoker will be reduced from July 1 with any surplus jackpot funds being redistributed.

18 months ago GGPoker added the Bounty Jackpot feature. Essentially a mystery bounty across every single PKO tournament on the site, awarded at random like a Bad Beat Jackpot might be.

Since then several million dollar jackpots have been awarded

Yesterday GGPoker announced that from July 1, the Bounty Jackpots will be no more. They revealed the feature was not as popular as they anticipated.

A spokesperson said:

We understand changes, especially those involving fees, can be concerning. This decision was made not only to remove a feature that was less popular than we hoped, but to reallocate resources in a way that directly benefits our player community, helps attract new players, and allows us to introduce more exciting promotions in the future. We are proud that our Bounty Tournaments still offer the lowest fees across the online poker industry, and we are eager to hear your thoughts on these changes.

This means a reduction in rake in bounty tournaments to match the non-bounty tournaments on the site, as no additional surcharge is necessary. Any additional funds remaining in the Bounty Jackpot pool will be redistributed to other promotions, including a $1 million promotion for the next Bounty Hunter Series.
