A cool million for the Dutchman at an EPT Monte Carlo that crushed the previous year’s attendance record.
Another record-breaking live field this week as the EPT Monte Carlo Main Event cracked 1,208 entries (up from 1,098 last year).
It took a six hour heads-up battle with Boris Angelov to get there, but eventually Dutchman Derk van Luijk took it down for €1 million.
Luijk was more surprised than anyone that he had won because earlier at the final table he thought he had been eliminated in a three-way pot. His tablemates had to tell him he had won the hand and survived.
