Despite the whole poker world being in Vegas the Estrellas/UKIPT Main Event attracted a record field over the weekend.

An operator would have to be bonkers to host an event outside of Vegas during the World Series of Poker…wouldn’t they?
Evidently not as, once again, we have seen a record field in Europe. The Estrellas/UKIPT festival in Malaga has just broken records despite taking place at the same time as the WSOP.
There were 1,146 entries in the €1,100 Main Event, which makes it the biggest Estrellas Poker Tour event outside of EPT Barcelona. Of course, all the more impressive considering it feels like the whole poker world is in Vegas right now.
Artús Giménez of Spain took it down for €145,000. He defeated Tomasz Wrobel of Poland who took down the biggest prize of the day, €156,200, by virtue of a heads-up deal. Wrobel qualified for this event online making his six-figure pay day even more lucrative.
In the side events, High Stakes crusher Sam Grafton won the €3,200 High Roller for €62,450.
